How does a body lift kit work?

A body lift kit is a popular modification for off-road vehicles, designed to increase the distance between the vehicle’s body and its frame without altering the suspension system. Here’s how it works and what you should know about it:

1. Components:

• Lift Blocks: These are  made from Aluminium and are placed between the vehicle’s body and frame.

• Extended Bolts: Longer bolts are used to secure the body to the frame, accommodating the new space created by the lift blocks.

• Brackets and Extensions: These may include components for extending brake lines, fuel filler hoses, steering shaft, and other critical connections to ensure they are not overstressed due to the increased distance.

2. Installation:

• Lift Blocks Installation: The lift blocks are placed at the body mounts where the body attaches to the frame. The vehicle is jacked up, the old bolts are removed, the lift blocks are inserted, and then the new extended bolts are installed.

• Adjusting Connections: Components like the brake lines, fuel lines, and steering linkage are adjusted or extended to ensure they fit properly with the new body height.

3. Height Increase:

• Body lift kits typically provide a lift ranging from 1 to 2 inches. This lift is achieved by the thickness of the lift blocks.
